Obedience our gift to God!

I remember as a child many are the times I got to hear from my parents that I needed to be an obedient child or I’d face the disciplinary action of not obeying and being a child, there was no choice but to oblige, and I was neither spared when I went to Sunday school for the same thing was taught. But as I grew older something changed, and having a mind of my own, changed how I viewed obedience for it came from a selfish point of view, but I thank God for His grace for obedience to God means to hear, trust, submit and surrender to God. The Bible has timeless examples of people who walked in obedience and one, in particular, is the story of Noah, this man was the only one that was found righteous by God, and the Bible says that Noah pleased God and found favour because he loved God and obeyed him with his whole heart. As a result, Noah set an example for his entire generation. Although everyone around him followed the evil in their hearts, Noah followed God. Does your life and my life set an example, or are we negatively influenced by the people around us?

When we grow older obedience seems like an uphill task yet it’s the most fulfilling, this seems to be a huge struggle for most people, you feel entitled to your opinions and therefore no need to follow certain regulations set, at times it could be a simple task or requirement set at our workplaces like being at work on time, yet most people don’t see the value of keeping time yet this is for us to become good stewards of time. But God keeps reminding us of the rewards of obeying when He instructs us to do so.

Five years back, I was in a relationship that I thought would lead to marriage, but we were not equally yoked, God had asked me to move from the relationship and I was adamant and I gave God all the reasons why I needed to stay but when God speak His word then it can’t return to Him in void, the events that kept happening to me for not obeying, hurt me so badly yet God had given an opportunity to obey Him. But God literally had to pluck me out, and the moment I stepped out of that relationship I met my dear husband 😊.

I Am reminded today that when God calls us to walk in Obedience we should honour Him by accepting His call, there is so much to benefit from just by walking in obedience. Abraham was asked to sacrifice his son whom he loved dearly and I bet Abraham was crushed to the core but he choose to obey and we see God making him the father of many nations what a great honour that God gave him. If he chose to disobey God then we won’t be existing today.

In conclusion, our obedience to God should be an act of worship to him, and it should prove our love for Him and the faith we have in Him. My challenge to us is, let’s obey God as He calls us to do so, for this is a blessing for generations.

Blessings!
