My China Story

I have always wanted to visit China thanks to my late dad who gave us beautiful stories about this country after visiting. My interest in business drew me to love China and i remember after my dad came back home,he had so many business cards of the factories and the businesses he had visited and i was so excited and asked God to provide an opportunity for me to visit China one day so that i get to have an almost or even better experience than my late dad.

2014 was one of my difficult seasons in my life and had prayed to God to allow me to visit China that year and little did i know how soon God would answer that Prayer.Around July i met two gentlemen who were agents and they mentioned to me that there were teaching jobs opportunities in China and they were really paying so well.I could not resist this opportunity, for i was beyond excited.I shared the news with my Mum and siblings and they supported me with the decision of me leaving for china.

The visa application process took longer than expected and i was getting impatient and again I asked God if it was His will for me to travel to China ,to allow the agents call me that week to give me the good news and before the end of that week my visa had gone through ,i was super happy.I had a meeting with the agents and they briefed me on what was expected of me to prepare for the job, there were fees i had to make for them to facilitate the whole process.During that period i met two ladies that had been recruited and we were to travel together ,how joyful was this to know i had my fellow ladies and Kenyans to do life with in China.

September 1st we arrived in China together with one of the agents, the weather was not really welcoming as it was the end of summer and beginning of autumn, the humidity was out of this world i wondered how does even one survive in such environment as i have never experienced something like that before. We got a cab and had to transit to a different city which was about 3 hrs away this was not as discussed with the agents but we kept our calm and waited.

We arrived at Yiwu city which amazingly was such a beautiful city and i would later learn that its a business hub,but our expectations were not met as we were taken to an old apartment and we were assured we would be moved to a better space, little did we know that conversation would end there. Inshort we shared a single room and also shared a bed three of us.

To be continued on the next blog…please stay tuned.

Blessings!
